Candle Sand

Candle Sand is a different way of making a candle. Instead of a fixed block of wax, you pour fine candle sand into a decorative holder of your choice, set the wick, and light it. The candle takes the shape of whatever you pour it into.

When it has burned down you replace the wick and top up the sand. The holder is never used up and nothing is thrown away, which makes it the most sustainable candle we make, and the most personal: you decide the shape, the size and the vessel.

How does candle sand work?

Candle sand is wax in granulated form. You pour it into a heatproof holder, push a wick into the centre, and light it as you would any candle. The sand melts around the wick and burns evenly, and because it is loose rather than moulded, you control exactly how much you use and how deep the candle sits.

Refilling instead of replacing

When the sand has burned down, you replace the wick and add more sand. Your holder stays in use indefinitely, whether that is a glass, a bowl, a lantern or one of our own vessels. It is a far smaller footprint than buying a new candle each time, and it works out cheaper over a year.

Bloom is floral and soft, Bliss is fresh and citrus-led, Storm is warm and woody, Pearl is floral with a spiced edge, and Muse is the deepest of the five. Each arrives in a gift box, which makes any of them straightforward to give as a present.
